Tinman Supports Sea Sanctuary

I have chosen blue health charity, Sea Sanctuary for Tinman’s selected 2022 Charity. It was a clear and easy decision for me based on several reasons.

1.     I used to sail competitively from a young age and have always been amazed at what being out on the water can do for your mental wellbeing. There is a saying in the sailing community which is “A bad day on the water, beats a good day in the office.” and I think anyone who has been out on the water, whether it be paddle boarding, surfing, sailing or even for a doggy paddle, would strongly agree with this. Sea Sanctuary believe that spending time near the water has huge benefits for your mental health. I couldn’t agree more, and since they started looking at the correlation between blue health and a better mental wellbeing in 2006, there is now scientific proof to back their theory. So, I suggest a walk along your local beach front, which might help reduce any forms of anxiety and negativity you may be currently facing. Wrap up warm though! Brrrr

2.     Cornish Charity! Of course, being a Cornish brand, I had to choose a charity based in Cornwall. Mental Health conditions in Cornwall have always been high, and due to Covid-19 and the economic struggles many people are currently facing, there has been a steady rise in case referrals. Cornwall, as a county, has also had a strong fluctuation for seasonal jobs and unemployment during the winter months which also seems to influence the community’s mental health. Sometimes there is no better place to start than on your own front door, and I think this is the case with choosing to support a Cornish Charity.

3.     Leading on from my previous point, Sea Sanctuary also have a programme called the G999 Project. They work very closely with the Devon and Cornwall Police Special Constables in the prevention of suicide. Being such a delicate subject, its admirable they have the support network to hone in on the prevention of suicide across the county and it’s no surprise they have won awards in this field.

Tinman will donate 10% of their profits to Sea Sanctuary for 2022. Every single Hat, Hoodie, T-shirt, Joggers, Sweatshirt, Rucksack, you purchase through Tinman will help Sea Sanctuary do what they do best.
